Mike Souza is the head coach of the University of New Hampshire (UNH) men's ice hockey team, currently in his eighth season as of 2025. A 2000 UNH graduate, Souza played four years for the Wildcats, known for his speed and scoring ability, and helped lead the team to the national championship game in 1999. After a professional playing career in the AHL, ECHL, and Europe, Souza transitioned to coaching, serving as an assistant at Brown University and UConn before joining UNH as an associate head coach in 2015. He was promoted to head coach in 2018, leading the Wildcats to their best season in over a decade in 2023-24 with a 20-15-1 record. Under his leadership, UNH has developed NHL draft picks and attracted international talent from seven countries.
