David Quinn is an American professional ice hockey coach who served as head coach of the New York Rangers from 2018 to 2021. Born July 30, 1966, in Cranston, Rhode Island, Quinn played college hockey at Boston University before turning to coaching after his playing career was cut short by health issues. He built a strong reputation developing young players, leading Boston University as head coach from 2013 to 2018 and taking the Terriers to multiple NCAA tournament appearances. During his three seasons behind the Rangers’ bench, Quinn compiled a 96-87-25 record, helping rejuvenate a rebuilding team. After his tenure with the Rangers, Quinn coached the San Jose Sharks and Team USA internationally, returning to the Rangers as an assistant coach in 2025.
