Mark J. Witkin is a founding partner of the Boston law firm, Bloom & Witkin. Mark brings a wide range of business and legal experience to the representation of NHL players, and his clients benefit from this rich work history. Mark has represented professional athletes for more than 25 years, and he is recognized as an innovator and pioneer in the field. For example, he has devised inventive tax and insurance strategies for his clients, including "loss of value" insurance for special situations.

In addition, Mark has helped Fortune 500 companies manage real estate taxation; produced television programming; and served as counsel involving contracts for major media outlets. Moreover, he established a joint venture that produced a major national music tour, which began in New York's Radio City Music Hall and played similar venues across the United States.

Mark also features tremendous media experience. He was a co-host of "The Sports Huddle," the country's first call-in radio sports talk show, and has been featured in publications such as Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, Time, Life, and The Sporting News, as well as TV shows such as The CBS Evening News.

Mark Graduated from Cornell University and the University of Chicago Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Federal Bar, the American Bar Association, and is licensed to appear before the US Tax Court. Mark is married and has two children. He lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.

 

PeterPeter Fish - Agent/Vice President

Peter Fish has worked with Global Hockey Consultants since 1999 and is a certified Agent. During his tenure, he has established an excellent reputation for integrity in player advisement, representation and recruitment. A thorough professional, Peter is recognized in the hockey community for his ability to establish strong relationships with players and their families, his knowledge of the game and his outstanding client service.

Before joining Global Hockey Consultants, Peter worked as a marketing manager at Easton Sports and Nike/Bauer Hockey - positions that enabled him to make numerous important relationships in the National Hockey League, the American Hockey League, and colleges around the U.S.

Peter graduated from Boston University in 1989, where he was a goaltender on several outstanding teams. In 1988, he was chosen in the supplemental draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He is the first cousin to Hall of Famer Mike Bossy. Peter is married and resides in Danvers, Massachusetts with his wife Jodi and two sons Bobby and Tommy.

Gerry is president of Klingman and Associates. He advises Global Hockey Consultants clients on a broad range of subjects, including budgeting, cash flow management, investment consultation, insurance and retirement planning. He is a nationally recognized expert in retirement planning and is frequently sought after to deliver presentations on the subject to national audiences. Gerry frequently appears in various media, including CNN's "The World Today."

More importantly, Gerry has tremendous wealth management skills, and has helped numerous Global Hockey Consultants clients prepare for a smooth, secure transition to life after hockey.

Like Gerry Klingman, Ed Ronan works hard to establish alliances with the very best and brightest people.  Our alliance with Ed is anchored in trust, honesty and professionalism. You see, we have a lengthy history with Ed that began during the early formation of our firm. Ed was one of the first athletes we represented and one of several to have won a Stanley Cup Championship while a member of Global Hockey Consultants. Since his retirement seven years ago, Ed, a CFP%uFFFD practitioner, has been helping families and individuals secure their financial futures.

Ed is a member of Bay Financial Associates, LLC one of the largest independent financial advisory firms in New England. He advises Global Hockey Consultants clients on a broad range of subjects, including budgeting, cash flow management, investment consultation, insurance and retirement planning.  He is a staunch advocate of the "team" approach to advising one's affairs and has developed relationships with other specialists in the wealth management arena.  Ed%u2019s knowledge and insight has been recognized by such publications as Street & Smith's "Pro Magazine" - a publication distributed exclusively to professional athletes.

Donald J. Hoffman is the tax partner at the New York based Certified Public Accounting and Consulting Firm, Tanton and Company, LLP. Don has been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State since 1984. During his career, he has become one of the leading experts in multi-state and international taxation that effects today's professional athletes and entertainers. He has worked with the entire team at Global Hockey Consultants, in developing and integrating tax strategies and planning opportunities for their clients.

Tanton and Company, LLP is a full-service Manhattan based accounting firm, which has grown by helping small aggressive individuals and companies develop their ideas and plans into large successful enterprises. The Firm's scope of services is broad, including the preparation of personal, business, trust, and estate income tax returns, certified audits, and assistance in the preparation of initial public offering prospectuses. The Firm's clients have offices throughout the United States and the World, which allows them to offer global services with a local approach. The partners pride themselves on providing personal service along with their technical expertise. They provide their clients with ideas and strategies that are considered proactive and outside the box of conventional thinking.

Don is written several articles for major newspapers and magazines, and has been featured as the expert on the "jock tax", in print media as well as television and radio.

Don is a graduate of Hofstra University and currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and its Tax Division, and has been a member of The Board of Directors of Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also involved with the Sports and Entertainment Committee and is the former Chairperson of its Federal Tax Committee.

Peter joined Global Hockey Consultants in 2009. Prior to joining Global, he was an executive in a company that specialized in bridge and geotechnical construction. Upon graduating from Law School Peter specialized in representing general contractors and surety companies against public owners on bonded projects. He is recognized as an expertise in the field of construction law and delay claim analysis. In addition Peter has successfully negotiated numerous contracts and resolutions with subcontractors, suppliers, and public owners.

 

Peter is knowledgeable pertaining to all aspects of the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement and recognized as an individual that builds and maintains strong relationships within both the hockey and business community.

 

Peter graduated from Boston University in 1998 where he was a Forward on numerous championship teams that included current NHL players Chris Drury, Jay Pandolfo, Mike Grier and Tom Poti. Peter's older brother, Clark, was an NHL Forward and two time US Olympian. Peter is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School and is licensed to practice law in the state of Rhode Island. Peter is married and resides in Providence, with his wife Priscilla and their son, Max.
